2022 AUDITIONS — August 20-21
Every year, California Revels puts together a chorus totaling up to 50 or more singers. For many chorus members, participating in Revels is the highlight of their holiday season, bringing them together in community, transporting them to another time, and giving them comfort in the darkest days of the year. And, it’s a lot of fun!
This year, a Chinese opera star and her grandmother's ghost, medicine show mountebanks, and revelers from every community in post-Gold Rush California are scrambling up the Santa Cruz mountains to watch the sun set between the famous Solstice Stones. Forbidden love, suspicious remedies, and a multiplicity of music, dance, and circus ensue.

Adult & Teen (Young Performer) Chorus vocal auditions for California Revels are done by reservation in small groups.
- Prepare a short folk or classical song, 1-2 minutes in length, one you know well. A cappella is fine. We do not recommend singing to a recording.
- Your 15-minute vocal audition will include a few vocal scales and exercises and reading a short piece with your audition group.
- Bring possible conflicts to add to your audition form.
- If you intend to dance in the performance, there will be a short required dance audition done in a small group. We will teach you the dance. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Groups will be approximately at 2:00pm and 4:00pm on Saturday, and once on Sunday around 1:30pm.
- Photos are not required but, if you have a small one that we can staple to the audition form, so much the better!
