May Day at the Zoo

May Day at the Zoo

The celebration features a parade traditional to Padstow, Cornwall,  singing from the Solstice Ensemble and Revels Children's Chorus, Morris dancing, and a Maypole dance for all. A favorite of children and adults alike! The event is free with Zoo admission.

To celebrate Asian/Pacific Islander American Heritage Month, which begins May 1, we will also have a special performance from the Albany Children's Center Afternoon Chinese Program.

Joann Wu will be accompanying the children on the Yang Qin (hammer dulcimer), which has many cousins across the world, and hers is the Chinese cousin.

Evelie Delfino Såles Posch will also present a song and an Eagle Dance, along with a 2,000 year-old gong tradition from the Philippines.
So tie on some ribbons, pack a picnic, and join in the celebration of “the very merry month of May”!
